The Glass Bead Game was his final novel I believe and at the end of the book, as an appendix, there were three "lives" written by Magister Ludi, the protagonist of the book; The Indian Life is probably the best description of Maya I have read, though that was very long ago, so I might view it through the romantic haze of decennia.
