It was always understood that in "en karl och en människa" it always ment a woman, never human. My mom laughed when I asked her, then clarified that this was just another word for woman. A little hard for me to swallow at the time 😊
Just about every little hamlet in the area when Mom grew up had its own dialect, sometimes so different from its neighbor that you'd need a translator, well almost.
"Va ä töcke danne fö la?" actually meant "Vad är det där för något?" This is the dialect called Anundsjömålet i Ånermanland. My Grandma spoke it as did my Mom when needed.
Language, to me, is a brilliant, brilliant mystery.
