My main concern with what I read online these days is that there are very, very few people that, for me, have something to say.

Matthew Arnold once said about style, “Have something to say, and say it as clearly as you can. That is the only secret of style.”

I think it was John Gardner who added to this, "This, of course, assumes that you have something to say." And this is where I see the digital hurricanes of communication break down; unless you're enamored with five ways to lose weight or eight ways to capture attention or ten ways to get more likes, the pickings, even on Medium--which really should stand the best chance of providing quality writing--are slim.
